setting up the grid (first page design development)

I have used a four column grid, with a limited margin which has allowed me more space on the page, here are some early layout ideas for the 1st page, i have experimented with using vertical and horizontal type to breakup the information on the page. and also introduced a magenta to create highrachy.

I have used the page number at the edge of the page on a vertical, this also includes information next to it which explains what is displayed on the page, then at the top end of the page on the same edge there is a section title. this will be used to create a consistency through out the book.
